Tanzania
- Teaching in Pangani
Volunteer Comments
Kim Wallis from Ireland (Adult classes)
"I had an amazing time in Tanzania. Thanks to MondoChallenge, it was the high light of my trip. I would like to hear about what is happening in Pangani and now that I am home I hope to continue to support the work being done there in any way I can."
Amanda Coughlin from USA (CCM adult classes)
"Sadly, I will be leaving Pangani next week. I have done everything possible to extend my time here but the airline would require me to purchase a new ticket. I am very excited that we will have a new volunteer so soon but feel awful that I will not be here to greet him. I am heartbroken to be leaving. "
Brigitte Stolk from the Netherlands (Bweni)
"I really like it here in Bweni. The people are very nice and they help me with everything. They really want to learn and it is very nice working with them. Twice a week I go to Kikokwe School, about twenty minutes away from Bweni. There are 227 students. I teach standard 4, with 40 students. They didn't have any books so I bought 20 books in Tanga. They are very happy with the books and the lessons are very nice."
Mary Phelan from Ireland (Adult Classes)
"Given the unique circumstances of my trip ie my age and shortness of my stay, I was somewhat concerned with how it would work out. However, I really feel the whole experience was a success both on a professional and personal level. I would be interested in volunteering again. I really liked the Cross-cultural mix of teachers ie Europeans, Americans, with students."
