Tanzania - Business Development in Arusha

Volunteer Comments

Florence Langely from France, Henry Bartram from UK, TCBA
"New exciting projects have happened recently. The most important one is the HIV project. TCBA will offer training and micro-credit to families affected by HIV/AIDS. This is a very unique product in the world of micro-finance! We are teaming up with associations which work on the ground with the families. Hundreds of new applicants have been in our offices, so popular is TCBA these days! We are now busy registering them and working on the induction seminar. Consultancy projects have also been numerous e.g. CCF accounting system, Needy Hospice web-site, Danish partner for Lambo Piggery farm and many more."

Brian Walmsley from UK, TCBA
"My Mondo career break in Tanzania provided me with a fresh & balanced perspective to life & career back home. It was and continues to be a rich source of experience and inspiration to draw upon. I am delighted to retain my close links through becoming a trustee of the new MondoChallenge Foundation."

Caroline Holt from UK, WiA
"This has been an exhilarating six months! Mama Mosha is the most inspiring of people and the WiA group of local volunteers are tremendous. This whole experience has been far less of a career break than a career development opportunity and I will be so sad to be leaving. The new grants scheme is going to be really valuable and we all of us feel we are making a real difference out here in Arusha"

Jonathan Mueller from USA, WiA and other HIV programmes
"I can't say enough about the incredible 6 months I had in Arusha. Even with some of the difficulties it's helped me to realize that there's a very complex story to the aid that goes to Africa. If nothing else it's inspired me to continue on in some form or another with a link to Tanzania and the rest of the continent. I'll be continuing to search that out in the months ahead."
