Nepal - Teaching in Kathmandu

Volunteer Comments

Fin McLaughlin from the UK, Niketan School
"Niketan is amazing. The kids are hard work but mostly loveable and Uttam for all his obvious insanity, is a genius and a great example of what we can do if we set our minds to something."

Sean Grimes from Canada, Deneb and Shreekandapur
"Everyone at Mondo made it very easy, and suddenly it came and went (all too fast). I left Nepal after working in both Kathmandu and Shreekhandapur. The experience was invaluable and irreplaceable, words that I'm sure you hear often from volunteers - so thank you all so much. My time there was made memorable not just because of the kids and friends I made at the schools, but also the other volunteers - and of course Ram. He and his wife were incredible during my stay there - I'll never forget the relief at seeing his face after I (finally) stepped of the plane in Kathmandu (after 64 hours straight en route!)."

Andrew Jenkins from the UK, Niketan and YESS
"For me this has been an incredible life changing experience. Nepali culture is very interesting and the people are exceptionally warm and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend my placement to anyone."

Shirley Graham from Ireland, Niketan Sckool
"My time in Nepal was illuminating; fascinating; fun; challenging; emotional; fulfilling; and deeply satisfying. I would have loved to stay for longer - the people were friendly; the children were a joy; the local issues of constant interest; the sense of community was loving and inclusive; the way of life much more real than the stressful existence we have in London!"

Joia De Sa from the UK, Niketan School
" The sights, sounds and smells of Kathmandu are amazing and the induction has been really good though Nepali does twist the tongue somewhat but Ram is brilliant. Although I did feel slightly nervous about teaching first time, I had an excellent time and the atmosphere was really friendly. MondoChallenge allowed me to give something back in exchange for being able to immerse myself in the local culture and have fun at the same time."
