Nepal - Teaching in Chaukot and ShreeKhandapur

Volunteer Comments

Ross Hume from the UK, Shreekandapur
"The time I got to spend in Shreekandapur was amazing. The kids were great and it was clear that they loved having volunteers. We also set up adult classes after school and they proved so popular (60 pupils) that we got a mention in the local paper. The village was in a beautiful location and the family were really welcoming, although communication had to be quite inventive sometimes. Rams help and support was invaluable, and the insight he gave us into Nepali culture really added to the whole experience. One of the highlights had to be the volunteer Christmas dinner (chapatti pizza and curry) with Rams wonderful family."

Jessica Murray from Canada, Shree Swet Ganesh
"I taught at the school (classes 3, 4 and 5) and also held workshops for the women's groups in the village and surrounding areas regarding basic hygiene. I came here with an idea for a career and during my stay in Chaukot I realized what it is I really want to do with my life. I was able to finally see that I have something to offer people and that my talents and gifts are appreciated and indeed needed by people. I am happy that I came to Nepal and helped some people here. But what is most amazing is how much the experience helped me."

Martin Emhjellen from S. Australia, Shreekandapur
"Thank you very much for providing me with this unique experience. With the experience I gained from the work I did for MondoChallenge, I now see myself working in an underdeveloped country in the near future. The work I did in Nepal was very positive for my personal growth and it felt good to be able to help."

Nick Maycock from the UK, Chaukot
"Just a quick note to say thank you. I'm back in England now, arrived yesterday. I am very grateful to you for giving me the chance to go to Chaukot. I had an amazing time there. I don't exaggerate when I say that the experience has changed my life. I feel like I made a real difference, and I am very proud of my achievements. I could not have experienced any of this without your help and if there is anything further I can to do help with the project I would be more than happy to do so."
