Kenya
- Teaching in the Southern Rift Valley
Our programme in Kenya offers volunteers the opportunity
to teach in one of 3 different secondary schools. All the schools
being secondary schools, classes
are all taught in English and volunteers can teach a variety of
subjects. This could include English, maths, history, science, sports
and music depending
on volunteers' qualifications and needs of the schools; it is even
possible to help the students with some computer skills.
In addition to
teaching
at school, volunteers can organise cultural trips for students
in this beautiful and safe region, set up after school sports teams
and of course
enjoy themselves at the same time. There are teachers' houses
in the schools for the local staff and our volunteers. They can share
cooking facilities
or eat at the schoo..
No specific qualifications are needed except a good level
of general education and enthusiasm. Volunteers can work for various lengths
of time and at various locations. We can generlly arrange timetables to
suite the skills of the volunteers and the needs of the school.
We are working with indigenous people to help them promote
their skills and knowledge. Our programmes are not linked with any religious
or political movement.
