Gambia - Business Development

We currently have two business development programmes in The Gambia – The National Beekeeping Association of The Gambia (NBAG) and Santa Yala support association .

We have been working with the NBAG since 2002. Based in Banjulunding, they are the national umbrella organization for the training, processing, and sales of honey. They have a big impact on generating income in rural areas through beekeeping, and this not only reduces the rural-urban drift, but prevents de-forestation and encourages environmental awareness.

The NBAG travel all over The Gambia to work in rural communities as well as running projects with refugees from Cassamance. They also run a micro-finance scheme and volunteers are valuable in a number of areas including project management, sales and marketing, accountancy, and on environmental and training issues.
